VISA Options

SWEDISH VISAS

Välkommen Ventures focuses on the Swedish self-employment visa for U.S. residents.
You can read more about this process here.

While Sweden offers fewer visa pathways than some other European countries, there are still several immigration options available beyond the self-employment visa.

Our Swedish immigration attorney can assist with the following residence permit applications. Estimated fees are shown at the bottom of the page.

WORK PERMIT

A Swedish work permit allows non-EU citizens to move to Sweden and work legally with a qualifying job offer that complies with Swedish labor rules.

Over time, it can open the door to permanent residence and citizenship.

VISA FOR UNIVERSITY STUDIES

If you are able to finance your studies and are accepted into a Swedish university, a student residence permit can be one of the most accessible ways to obtain a visa as a non-EU citizen. Permits are available for both undergraduate and graduate programs, and many degree programs are taught entirely in English.

More details about residence permits for university studies can be found on the Migrationsverket website.

EU BLUE CARD

For highly skilled professionals with a qualifying job offer, the EU Blue Card is another option for working and living in Sweden. This residence permit is designed for individuals with advanced qualifications and competitive salaries, and it allows holders to work in Sweden under standardized EU-wide rules.

Additional details about the EU Blue Card in Sweden are available on EU Commission's website.

PARTNER VISA

For individuals who have a spouse, registered partner, or long-term partner living in Sweden, a partner residence permit may be an option. This permit allows non-EU citizens to live in Sweden based on an established relationship with someone who is legally resident or a Swedish citizen.

Partner permits can provide the right to live - and in many cases work - in Sweden, and may lead to long-term residence and citizenship over time.

More information about partner residence permits is available on Migrationsverket website.
